The ping command is a command-line utility that can be used in Windows command prompt to verify network devices connected to network is reachable. This command will send a request over the network to a specific device IP. If the device provide a response back to the ping that means that it is available (online). If you cannot find the device in the Shepherd application or it appears as "disconnected" in your NVR/VAST server you can use this command to verify. To do that please follow the next steps:
1. In the Windows start menu type "cmd.exe" or "Command Prompt".
2. Key-in the following command followed by the camera IP that you want to test: ping <camera IP>.
3. Click enter and verify the reply sent from the pinged device.
If the camera is OFFLINE you will see the following:
This means that the camera is offline or cannot be reached from the device you are using. In this situation you will need to check the device physically and be sure that its working properly (Green LED blinking).
