The ping command is a network connectivity function which sends ICMP echo request packets over the network to specific devices and waits for it to respond. You can send a ping request using the command prompt to any device in your network for a small period of time and if the device replies to the ping it means that the network is working and the camera can be reached from your PC. For more information you can see the following documentation: [All cameras] How to use the ping command in the Windows command prompt to verify if the camera is still ONLINE. But sometimes the connectivity will be lost when you are not pinging. For that you will need to use the continuous ping function, this will let you know at what point the connectivity was lost. For that please follow the next steps:
Step 1. In the Windows start menu type "cmd.exe" or "Command Prompt".
Step 2. Key-in the following command followed by the camera IP that you want to test and at the end at "-t" command: ping <camera IP> -t. This will tell the ping function to keep pinging until the process is sopped.
Step 3. Click enter and the PC will star sending pings to the device without stopping:
If at some point the connection is lost, please check that the network equipment connected to your device is still sending data.
Step 4. Type CTRL-C to end the pinging, or close the command window.
