Question
How to activate VAST2 complementary licenses using the offline method for versions 2.13 and above
Answer
For VAST 2.13 and later versions, you need to activate the complementary licenses. However, if the VAST server has no internet connection, you will need to use the offline activation method. This method involves using a computer with internet access to activate the license file, which you can then import into the VAST server.
On the VAST server, follow these steps:
Step 1. Go to License > Activate Official License (or Update Official License).
Step 2. Click on the "Offline Activation" tab.
Step 3. Click on "Export Request File."
Step 4. Choose the VAST station and export, then select a location.
The exported .req file will be saved in a folder named "VAST 2 License."
Step 5. Transfer that .req file to a computer with internet access, and then visit the license activation website: https://licensewebsite.vivotek.com/activation/free/.
On the website:
Step 6. Click on the "Complementary" tab, then browse and select the .req file. After that, click "Generate License." (You can also click the "License Key" tab to activate a license with a purchase license key, or the "Trial" tab to activate a trial license.)
Step 7. Transfer the generated .lic file back to the VAST server. Then, in the Offline Activation menu, click on "Import License File."
Step 8. Click "Add," select the .lic file, choose the VAST station, and click "Activate."
Your VAST 2 server should now have an activated license file.
