Question
Browser shows that the connections already exceeded the limit
Answer
If you encounter a "Connection already exceed the limit. Please try again later" message when accessing the camera web browser, this means that there are more than 10 users (VMS/NVR/iViewer/Browsers) trying to connect to the cameras stream (each stream uses one connection).
The camera system can only accept up to 10 connections at a time to prevent overload. If there are already 10 users connected to the camera, the 11th user attempting to access the camera stream will encounter an error. Please note that accessing the camera's configuration settings does not count as a 'connection.' To resolve this issue, please follow the checkpoints below:
1. Check camera connection list:
The camera has an function that allow you to see how many devices are requesting a stream connection to it, to verify please follow the next steps:
Step 1. Go to the camera Configuration and click on the Security > Access list tab.
Step 2. In the General Settings section, click on the "Connection management" button.
Step 3. A popup window will appear telling you how many IP’s (users) are connecting to the camera.
If you find that you don’t recognize any of these IP, you can add to the deny list or simply close their connection to the camera.
When closing the window the IP will appear in the IPv4 "Deny" list and this IP wont be able to query any video stream connection from the device.
If you find that you don’t recognize any of these IP, you can add it to the deny list or simply close their connection to the camera.
2. Check if the camera was added to a 3rd party software/device (VMS/NVR/phone application)
Following the steps mentioned in "Checkpoint 1" you will be able to see exactly which IP is connecting to your camera, if you recognize this IP (assigned to a specific NVR/VMS device) you can either deleted them from the system if the camera was not supposed to be added to those devices. For the previous example, we scanned the network and found out that the camera was added to a VMS server:
This is not our main server (the camera was accidentally added to this server, hence using two stream connections, one for recording and one for displaying) so we decided to deleted it from this system. Going back to the camera home we confirmed that the connections were "liberated"
3. Check camera events:
Each event requires one stream, if you configure several events that require video analysis, the camera will use one of the “connections”. For example, if you added the camera to a NVR, then preview it in the Internet Explorer and have 2 motions events, the camera will be using a total of 5 connections.
- VMS: 2 connections
- Events: 2 connections
- Web browser: 1 connection
In summary, be sure to manage all the connections in the camera to avoid the message to appearing.
