Question
How to create an event that will make the camera perform auto-focus every hour
Answer
VIVOTEK cameras are capable of auto-focusing automatically, but in some situations, users may want to perform auto-focus manually to avoid errors that can occur during auto-focus (e.g., constant movement of objects in front of the camera). The easiest way to do this is by setting an event that triggers auto-focus at a specific time. To set this up, please follow the steps below:
Step 1. Go to the camera Configuration > Event > Event Settings and in the "Event" section, click on the "Add" button.
Step 2. In the Event settings page, type the name of the event, check "Enable this event," and select the schedule that you want to trigger the event.
Step 3. Click on the "Trigger" section and select "Periodically" (here you can set how often you want to perform auto-focus). Then, type the period you would like to trigger the focus (for this example, we will do auto-focus every hour).
Click on the "Save event" to save the changes so far.
Step 4. Go to the "Action" section and click on "Add server", then select "HTTP".
Step 5. In the HTTP server type, the following:
- Server Name: Focus command
- URL: http://127.0.0.1/cgi-bin/admin/remotefocus.cgi?channel=0
- Username: root
- Password: type camera password
Then, click on the "Save server" button to save the server.
Step 6. Select the server that you just added and save the event once again.
Once everything is set, the camera will perform auto-focus once every hour. Feel free to change the time ranges if needed. If you find any issues during the setup or the camera is not performing the action you require, please contact Technical Support for assistance.
