Question
How to check if VIVOTEK cameras are compatible with ONVIF?
Answer
All VIVOTEK cameras series 8000 and 9000 are compatible with the ONVIF standard (please note that 7000 series or below are not compatible with ONVIF) but if you require verification to ensure the client that is ONVIF compatible you can use the following methods:
1. Check the camera specifications:
The ONVIF compatibility information is depicted in each camera specification page:
In this page you will be able to also see which profile are supported by the camera (e.g Profile G, S, T).
2. Check the camera parameters:
Go to the camera configuration page, and in System > Parameters search for the following parameters:
- capability_version_onviftesttool
- capability_version_onvifdaemon
This page will not only display which profiles are being used but also will tell which media profiles are compatible with the camera. We understand that this may not be an official way to verify the ONVIF compatibility but is also another way to verify just in case the customer have no access to internet to verify the compatibility with ONVIF.
3. Check the ONVIF product compatibility page:
Go to the ONVIF compatibility webpage: https://www.onvif.org/conformant-products/ and search for the camera model that you are using, if the model is displayed in the webpage that means that this camera is not only ONVIF compatible but have been verified by ONVIF itself.
Note: You can use this page to verify if other camera brands are compatible with ONVIF as well. If they are not displayed in this page that means that the camera may have not passed all the ONVIF requierements to be fully compatible with the protocol.
