Question
What to do when the camera presents pink images in video feedback
Answer
If the camera is presenting a pink image (as shown in the image above), it usually means the IR cut filter is not working properly. The IR cut filter is an internal mechanism in the camera that blocks infrared light emissions into the sensor during the daytime.
If the IR cut filter is not functioning correctly, the IR lights will not be properly filtered, resulting in the camera generating pink images. Typically, when this issue arises, VIVOTEK suggests sending the camera back for repairs. However, if you would like to double-check for any other potential causes, please consider the following points:
1. Check image during different IRC modes (day/night mode)
The IR filter can be checked by manually changing the IRC modes in the camera. To do that, please follow the steps below:
Step 1. Go to the camera configuration and navigate to Media > Image > General Settings. Uncheck the “Switch to B/W in night mode” option and change the IR cut filter status to “Night mode.”
Step 2. Check the home page and observe if the image has changed. Normally, in day mode, the image should appear normal, while in night mode, it should look pinkish.
If there is an issue with the mechanical filter, you will notice that even if you change the IRC modes, the image won’t change.
2. Check the IRC mode status in the camera logs
Check if the IRC is changing to day and night mode according to the correct schedule (this will vary depending on the camera).
If the issue persists even after analysis, it can be concluded that the problem is related to the IR cut filter. Please follow the instructions below to enter recovery mode:
(1) Power off the camera.
(2) Press and hold down the reset button.
(3) Power on the camera; the Red LED will start blinking rapidly.
(4) After 1 minute, release the reset button.
(5) The firmware will be restored.
If the problem cannot be resolved using this method, the camera will need to be sent back for repairs.
