1. Overview
Missing Object Detection and Unattended Object Detection are two real-time Video Content Analysis (VCA) Detection rules. As their name suggested, these two rules can be used to detect missing object and unattended object in a scene.
2. Create a Rule
In VORTEX User Portal, click the menu column in the left to go to Devices page as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 2 shows a layout of Devices page. All Devices in an organization are listed. Click the VCA icon of a device to go to the VCA configuration page as shown in Figure 3. Click the ‘Add’ button and select ‘Missing object detection’ as shown in Figure 4. Then, users can draw the polygon-based detection area, set the maximum and minimum detection object size, and input the trigger condition as shown in Figure 5.

After clicking ‘Save’ button, a new Missing Object Detection rule is created as shown in Figure 6. The default name is Missing Object detection 1. User can click ‘…’ to edit rule, edit rule name, or edit schedule, if required (Figure 7).

3. Event Triggering
Once a VCA rule is created, the camera will detect the missing object or unattended object events real-time.
3.1. Unattended Object Detection
When an object appears in a scene longer than the ‘Unattended objects appeared (seconds)’ in trigger condition, an unattended object detection event will be triggered, and the triggered events can be found in Message Center in Figure 9.

3.2. Missing Object Detection
When an object (for example, a mobile phone) was on the desk, but disappeared from its original location for longer than the specified trigger time, it will be detected by Missing Object Detection (Figure 10). The event can be found in Message Center in Figure 11.
