Question
What will happen if you hardware reset your VORTEX camera?
Answer
Physically pushing the hardware reset button equals to unbinding the camera from your VORTEX organization. Software reset (restore via VORTEX portal/app) will only set your camera back to factory default, but will not delete the camera from your organization.
Please be extra careful when hardware resetting your cameras, when you press the hardware reset button! Here are the things that will happen if you manually perform a hardware reset:
Camera Video Data
All the data in the SD card and cloud related to the deleted camera will be wiped out. This will also include the video data saved in the the archive.
Device License
If you are removing a standard camera from the organization. The removal won’t trigger the deallocation of the license on that camera from the organization.
- If the license on the removed camera was allocated within 30 days, please request a refund through your distributor or reseller. The license will then be deallocated by the distributor or reseller, and subsequently, the co-termination date will be adjusted.
- If the license on that removed camera was allocated beyond 30 days, a refund is not possible. The license will remain within the organization and the co-termination date will remain unchanged. If you re-add the same camera to the organization, it can continue using the existing license.
If you are removing a pre-bundled camera from the organization.
- If the camera has been used within 30 days, its removal will trigger the deallocation of the license from the organization simultaneously. Consequently, the co-termination date will be modified.
- If the camera has been used beyond 30 days, removing it won’t trigger the deallocation of the license from the organization. A refund is not possible. The license will remain within the organization and the co-termination date will remain unchanged. If you re-add the same camera to the organization, it can continue using the existing license.
Cloud Backup License
The removal of the camera won’t trigger the deallocation of the cloud backup license on that camera from the organization.
- If the cloud backup license on the removed camera was added within 30 days, please request a refund through your distributor or reseller. The cloud backup license will then be removed by the reseller.
- If the cloud backup license on that removed camera was added beyond 30 days, a refund is not possible. The license will remain within the organization. If you re-add the same camera to the organization, it can continue using the existing cloud backup license, and thus, has cloud backup storage capability.
