Question
What port should be forwarded to connect to the VAST Security Station server?
Answer
To establish a connection to the VAST Security Station server, the HTTPS port 3443 needs to be forwarded to your router. This port is used for secure communications between your client device and the VAST server. Please follow these steps to set up port forwarding:
1. Access your router settings, this is usually done by typing the router’s IP address (like 192.168.1.1) into a web browser. For this tutorial, we will use TP-Link AX1800.
2. Navigate to the port forwarding Section.
For most other routers, look for a tab labeled ‘Port Forwarding’, ‘Apps and Gaming’, or something similar.
3. Create a new port forwarding rule by entering the IP address of the device where the VAST Security Station server is installed.
4. Type ‘3443’ in both the ‘External Port’ and ‘Internal Port’ fields.
If you need to change this port due to any port conflict, please check the following article: [VSS] Can the VAST Security Station HTTPS access port can be changed after installation?
5. Save or apply the changes.
6. Once you have configured the settings, test the connection by accessing the VAST server using the router public IP from a remote location.
