Question
What can I do if the camera green LED does not blink (no internet connection)
Answer
The camera's green LED indicates its network status. If this LED is not blinking, it means the device is not connected to a network. To identify the cause of the issue, please check the following points:
1. Check if the camera can be found in Shepherd
VIVOTEK has a search engine that can be used to find all cameras connected to the network called "Shepherd".
Please download it from its official web page and try to find your camera in the network.

Then run the application and run a IP scan to find all the devices in your network.
Be sure that the PC in were the Shepherd application is installed is connected to the same network as the cameras otherwise you wont be able to find the device.
2. Check if the camera can be accessed from the UI.
Ensure the camera is still accessible by using a web browser.
3. Check if the camera can be connected through the ping command (cmd.exe)
The ping command is a Windows function that can be used to check connectivity to a specific IP address. Open the Windows console and type the following command:
C:\> ping <Camera IP Address>
If the camera can be reached, you will see the following communication reply:
If the camera cannot be reached, you will see the following reply:
4. Reset the camera to factory defaults
All VIVOTEK cameras have a reset button. You can try resetting the device to see if the issue can be resolved. Press the button for more than 10 seconds and release it when both the red and green LEDs start blinking.
5. Use the recovery mode function in the camera
Please follow these instructions to enter Recovery mode:
(1) Power off the camera.
(2) Press and hold down the reset button.
(3) Power on the camera; the red LED will start blinking rapidly.
(4) After 1 minute, release the reset button. The firmware will be sorted out.
If after checking these points everything seems normal but the camera is still unable to connect to the network, it will need to be sent back for repairs.
