In some situations, a Technical Support engineer will suggest replacing the NR internal system memory chip (SATADOM/mSATA/M.2) to avoid internal system errors. Then, you might need to export the VAST/VAST2/VSS configuration file to keep your all the settings done to your system including the recording configurations.
Question
How to export the device configuration files before replacing a SATADOM/mSATA/M.2 system memory?
Anwser
Step 1. In the NR control center, click on the "Import/export Utility".
Step 2. Once you click on the icon, the Import/Export Utility window will pop up. Be sure to select "Export current settings" (this will let the application know that you want to export the settings). Then, click on the "..." button to select where the configuration folder will be saved.
Step 3. After you have selected the destination, type the name of the file to be saved and then click the "Save" button. We suggest to use a very clear name in order to avoid confusion, specially if you are managing more than one server or want to go back to the same VAST/VAST2/VSS version in the future).
Step 4. After setting everything, in the Import/Export Utility click the "Next" button to start exporting the file.
The process will take around 2 minutes and during this time the VAST/VAST2/VSS server will stop so during that time the server wont be recording. When the process is finished it will show "Success!!" as follows:
Step 5. Go back to the previously configured folder and check that the file (in .bin format) have being created.
After finishing, copy that file into a USB/External memory to be used in the future. Then, turn OFF the NR device and start replacing the SATADOM/MSATA/M.2 memory.
