QUESTION
How to use an easy way like as manual triggers to initiate an action immediately from a network camera.
ANSWER
Introduction
VIVOTEK includes a manual trigger feature in all of its cameras. This feature not only offers users the flexibility to initiate events manually, but also enables system integrators to create additional triggers to initiate system events. The manual trigger buttons found in the camera's user interface enables actions to be initiated immediately. This document explains the use of manual triggers.
When to use a manual trigger
- A manual trigger provides users with an easy way to initiate an action in response to activity observed in the browser's live video stream from a camera. Example: Viewing the video stream from a camera in his browser, a security guard spots a potential thief and clicks the manual trigger button to sound a buzzer that frightens the person away.
- A manual trigger can be considered a form of virtual input, allowing the use of CGI commands to cause the camera to perform some action. System integrators can take advantage of this feature to add action triggers to their recording software.
Setting up actions for manual triggers
Events combine a manual trigger with an action that it initiates. The following section describes how to associate an action with a trigger.
- Go to Configuration-> Application->Event Setting-> Add-> Manual trigger in advanced mode.
- Configure the Event Schedule and Action settings according to what you wish to associate with the manual trigger. For more information about configuring the Event Schedule and Action settings, refer to the user manual.
Example: In anytime, when user activates manual trigger 1, digital output will be triggered for 30 seconds.
How to activate a manual trigger
There are two ways to activate manual triggers: (1) By clicking on the manual trigger buttons on the main page. (2) By sending a CGI command to activate them.
- By default, there are three manual trigger buttons on the main page. If you wish the camera to perform a particular action, click the corresponding button.
- A CGI command such as http://<IP>/cgi-bin/admin/setvi.cgi?vi0=1 can be used to activate manual trigger 1. The CGI command http://<servername>/cgi-bin/admin/setvi.cgi?vi0=0 will halt the action associated with the trigger. Available CGI commands are described in the camera's user manual
