Question
During installation, VAST2 pops up error message “D:\Database\sqlite3.exe”. If you click the button “ignore”, the error message “Failed to write database” shows.

After finishing installation, you are unable to log in to VAST2.

If you try to install VAST2 again, the installation wizard keeps showing error \Server\7za.exe, \Server\AVSynchronizer.dll, etc., and there is no method to uninstall VAST2.

How to reinstall VAST2 successfully?

Answer
The default recording path and default database path are in D:\Recordings and D:\Database. If your drive D is already be used by DVD player or non-disk drive and you don’t change the recording path and database path during installation, you will get the installation error.
Please follow below steps to reinstall VAST2:
1. Run “regedit”.

2. Go to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\VIVOTEK, Inc. and delete “VAST”.

3. Install VAST2 again and change the default recording path to a disk drive.
VAST2 2.8.0.6700 has improved its design mechanism to change the default recording path to C:\Recordings and to change the default database path to C:\Database if drive D is not a disk.
