[VAST2][2.5.0.6666] event recording for digital input will be failed when the network is broken but camera is still alive

 

Question

Why the recording does not work when I set digital input "Recording from DI activated to DI normal" as trigger event on VAST2?

Customer reported that they have several FD8166A(0209a) and each one is connected with a DI button.
All FD8166A are inserted into VAST2 and set digital input "Recording from DI activated to DI normal" as recording event on VAST2. However, the event recording does not start when press the DI button and customer needs to release the button and press it again to make VAST2 recording working. Customer noticed that this issue happened when the network is broken with VAST2 but the camera is still alive.

 

Answer

Reproduce steps:

1. Connect the camera with PoE injector
2. Keep the camera powering up but broke the network communication between camera and VAST2
3. Trigger camera DI
4. When VAST2 shows disconnected, restore the network communication between camera and VAST2
5. VAST2 will not start recording

Expected Result:

For example:

Condition: Recording from DI activated to DI normal
Scenario1: DI is activated (VAST2 recording) -> network disconnected -> DI keeps activated -> network connected: start recording
Scenario2: DI is normal (VAST2 did not recording) -> network disconnected -> DI turns activated -> network connected: start recording
Scenario3: DI is activated (VAST2 recording) -> network disconnected -> DI turns normal -> network connected: stop recording
Scenario4: DI is normal (VAST2 did not recording) -> network disconnected -> DI keeps normal -> network connected: stop recording
