Integration Goal
Enable HALO Smart Sensors to push real-time events to VORTEX using webhooks (HTTP messages). This allows VORTEX to display vaping, safety, and health events, while associating each sensor event with camera footage to enable rapid incident verification and faster response times.
Before You Start
You have administrator access to both VORTEX Cloud and the HALO device local web interface.
Your HALO device must be installed and configured, and connected to a stable network. If you encounter any issues with the HALO device, please contact your reseller.
Step 1 — Start the Integration in VORTEX
In the VORTEX portal, go to System → Third-party integration → HALO Smart Sensor.
Click Integrate to open the configuration page.
Click Add sensor to open the VORTEX configuration window for HALO.
VORTEX will provide two unique HTTP messages for HALO:
Set HTTP message (sent when a threshold condition is met).
Reset HTTP message (sent when the condition clears).
These two messages are what you’ll paste into HALO device web in Step 2.
What is the HTTP message?
To integrate your HALO smart sensor with VORTEX, you need to configure the HTTP message settings. This will allow HALO to push sensor event data to VORTEX in real-time via a webhook.
A webhook is a mechanism that allows one system (HALO) to automatically send data to another system (VORTEX) when specific events occur. Instead of waiting for VORTEX to request data, HALO pushes the sensor events directly to VORTEX using an HTTP message.
Step 2 — Configure Webhooks in the HALO Device
Log in to the HALO device and open Integration.
In the HTTP Message section:
Paste the VORTEX Set HTTP message into Set String and turn it On.
Paste the VORTEX Reset HTTP message into Reset String and turn it On.
Click Save (no other changes are required).
Go to Actions and make sure Set and Reset are checked under Primary Integration for each Event Identifier you want to send to VORTEX.
Step 3 — Register the HALO Sensor in VORTEX & Link Cameras
In the VORTEX Add Sensor window, complete:
Sensor name (for VORTEX display only; doesn’t rename the HALO device).
MAC address of the HALO sensor.
Associate with cameras to view video alongside events. A sensor can link to up to 10 cameras, and cameras can be linked by multiple sensors (many-to-many).
After saving, you’ll see the sensor listed with the configuration you just entered.
Your HALO Smart Sensor integration with VORTEX is now complete. From this point, you can take full advantage of the features we’ve covered—real-time vaping, safety, and health event monitoring; event visibility through the Message Center and mobile app; instant alerts via alarms, email, and push notifications; and trigger-to-action workflows such as play pre-recorded message, talk-down, door unlock/lock. These capabilities help you safeguard your property and streamline daily operations with greater confidence and efficiency.
