Question
What to do when fan error occurs on ND-series NVR?
Answer
A fan error may affect the system's cooling performance and could lead to overheating if not addressed promptly.
If fan error messages are found in the NVR log, please perform the following checks before proceeding with the RMA process.
1. Check Whether the Fan Is Rotating Properly
Verify that the fan starts spinning after the NVR is powered on.
Check for any abnormal behavior, such as:
- Fan not spinning
- Intermittent rotation
- Unusual noise or vibration
- Obstruction caused by dust or foreign objects
2. Verify Installation Environment and Airflow
Insufficient ventilation may cause abnormal fan operation warnings.
Please ensure that:
- There is at least 25 cm (10 inches) of clearance behind the chassis.
- The NVR is installed in a well-ventilated environment.
- Airflow around the chassis is not blocked.
- The system is not placed inside a fully enclosed cabinet without proper ventilation.
3. Check Fan Power Cable Connections
Remove the top cover and inspect the fan power cable to ensure it is securely connected.
If a loose connection is found, reconnect the cable securely and monitor whether the fan error is cleared.
- Verify that the fan power cable is firmly connected to the main board.
- Check both ends of the cable (the main board side and the fan side) to ensure that no connector is loose, partially disconnected, or damaged.
If the fan error persists after performing the above checks, the device may be experiencing a hardware failure. Please return the device for further inspection and repair.
