How do I upgrade device firmware in VORTEX portal?

Answer 

VORTEX supports firmware upgrades over the air (OTA).

You can upgrade the firmware of VORTEX cameras and VIVOTEK NVRs directly through the VORTEX portal.
Please note: Cameras added via a VIVOTEK NVR are not supported for OTA firmware upgrades.

VORTEX offers two types of firmware updates:

• Manual Firmware Update

• Auto Firmware Update

Manual Firmware Update

1. Go to the Device page and select the desired device to open its settings.
2. Navigate to the System section and find the Firmware Update option.
3. Click on Firmware Update — the system will automatically check for available firmware upgrades.
4. If a new version is available, a prompt will appear.
5. Click Update Now to begin the upgrade process.

If there is no new firmware available, you will see the UI as shown below.

Auto Firmware Update

Note: Auto firmware update is only available for organizations with a VORTEX Standard License.

To configure auto firmware updates:

1. Navigate to the System page in the VORTEX portal.

2. Under Global Device Settings, select Auto Firmware Update.

3. Set your preferred update schedule — this schedule will apply to all devices in your organization.

Devices will randomly check for available firmware updates during the scheduled window.
If a new firmware version is found, the system will automatically begin the upgrade process.
