Question
What does the disconnection status with a key icon mean when adding cameras in VSS?
Answer
The disconnection status with a key icon indicates that the camera trying to authorize is currently offline. Once the camera comes online, it will be automatically authorized.
This status often appears when:
- The camera is set to DHCP and hasn't obtained an IP address yet.
- The camera is offline or not physically connected.
- The camera's current IP address does not match the one entered in VSS.
Even if the camera is not yet reachable, you can still add it to VSS in advance. After entering the authorization credentials, VSS will store the configuration. Once the camera is online with matching network settings (e.g., correct IP or domain name), VSS will detect and authorize it automatically. This workflow simplifies system setup by allowing you to pre-configure devices without needing to re-add them later.
