Question
How do I access the camera file system using FileZilla (FTP)?
Answer
FileZilla is a free and open-source client for the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) that allows you to transfer files between your computer and a device on the network. You can use FileZilla to access the file directory on a VIVOTEK camera by connecting to the camera's built-in FTP server. Please follow the steps below.
Step 1. Download and install FileZilla Client on your computer from the official website: FileZilla Website
Step 2. After installation, open FileZilla. From the top menu, go to Transfer → Transfer type → Binary. This helps prevent file corruption when transferring system files.
Step 3. Enter the following camera information in the Quickconnect bar and click Quickconnect.
- Host: Camera IP address
- Username: root
- Password: The password of the root account
- Port: 21 (default FTP port, if required)
Step 4. When prompted, confirm the security warning (if any). Once connected successfully, the camera's file directory will appear in the right-side panel of FileZilla, and you can browse or transfer files as needed.
