What is tampering detection?
Tampering detection is a security feature that identifies and alerts users when a camera is being interfered with or compromised. The system monitors for specific changes or disruptions in the camera's view, and if such an event occurs, it triggers an alert. Common tampering scenarios include:
- Blocking the lens: Someone physically covers the camera or places an object in front of it.
- Changing the camera's position: The camera is moved or redirected from its original angle.
- Obscuring the lens: Spraying paint or applying substances to block the camera’s view.
Follow the steps below to set up the camera tamper detection function:
1. Select the Camera:
Navigate to the camera list and choose the specific camera for which you want to enable tampering detection.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Tampering detection is only available for VORTEX cameras.
2. Go to Camera Settings:
Open the settings menu for the selected camera. Look for the Detection / Tampering Detection option.
3. Enable Tampering Detection:
Toggle the Tampering Detection feature to "On." and click Save. This will activate the system’s monitoring for tampering events.
4. Receive Notifications:
Ensure that you have configured your notification preferences to receive alerts when tampering detection is triggered. You can manage this in the System / Alarm management section of the VORTEX platform.
What to Do if Tamper Detection Keeps Triggering?
Under the above scenarios, when tampering detection is enabled and image changes occur in the monitored area, tampering detection events may repeatedly appear in the message center every 30 minutes, which helps users quickly become aware of potential tampering and further verify if there is an issue. Additionally, we have added a "Resolved" button that allows users to reset the tampering detection.
The "Resolved" button appears at the bottom of the tampering detection event information in the Message Center, if the tampering event occurred within the last 30 minutes. If there are multiple tampering events triggered for the same reason in the message center, simply click the 'Resolved' button on one of the camera events to stop the alert.
