Video content analysis
VCA Settings page has a clearer view of available detection features based on its status. The settings are now divided into three categories:
Built-in
VCA rules that are included by default and do not require any additional license.
Available features:
Intrusion Detection
Line Crossing Detection
Loitering Detection
Missing Object Detection
Unattended Object Detection
Activated by License
Displays the Advanced AI detection type that are already activated with a purchased license.
Once licensed, these features can be configured directly from this page.
Requires License
Displays all currently supported Advanced AI detection type that require an additional license to activate.
Helps users easily identify available options and decide whether to enable them.
VORTEX VCA Set Up
- Where to set up
- VORTEX VCA set-up is managed individually for each VORTEX camera
- “Device” → select the VCA icon from the device list
- Or, navigate to “Device” → select a camera → “Detection” → “Video Content Analysis” → “Add”
- Users can configure different detection rules for each camera based on specific monitoring needs. Each camera supports the configuration of multiple VCA rules simultaneously, providing flexibility in surveillance scenarios. The maximum rules setting of Essential type is 5.The maximum rules setting of Premium type is 10.
- For built-in detection types, you can set them up at any time. However, for Add-on AI detection types, you must purchase an AI license through your assigned reseller before using them. You can click "Contact Reseller" to get your reseller’s contact information. If your organization hasn’t been assigned a reseller yet, please follow the guide to find a reseller that suits your needs.
- Once you have a license for that Add-on AI detection type, you can enable it and start using it.

- Intrusion detection
- monitors objects ( people or vehicles) entering or leaving a designated area, commonly used to detect unauthorized access to restricted zones

- Line Crossing Detection
- Line Crossing Detection detects objects crossing a predefined line (virtual trip wire), ideal for monitoring entrances, boundaries, or exits.'

- Loitering Detection
- Loitering detection is used to monitor if an object (person or vehicle) remains in a defined area for a prolonged period. It’s especially useful for detecting suspicious behavior, such as loitering, or for monitoring illegal parking.

- Missing Object Detection
- Missing Object Detection detects when an object is removed from a defined area, which is particularly useful for safeguarding valuable items or ensuring that important objects remain in place.

- Unattended Object Detection
- Unattended Object Detection triggers when an object is placed in an area where no objects should be left. This feature is commonly used in customer flow areas of retail stores, logistics, data centers , building or garage entrances, and warehouse applications.

- Fall detection
This feature detects people lying or sitting on the floor or object. An alert is triggered only after the person remains motionless for a few seconds.
Note: To ensure dedicated processing power for maximum accuracy, Fall Detection cannot be enabled simultaneously with PPE Detection. Please select the mode that best fits your current monitoring scenario.
- PPE detection
- Think alert
- Think Alert, a feature allows users to define custom alert triggers through natural language input.

- Tips
- Effective detection area
- Refer to the picture below, the green frame indicates the effective detection area where the camera can identify people. You can use this area as a reference to help define your detection zone. Similarly, the purple frame represents the effective detection area for vehicles, which can also be used as a reference when configuring detection settings.

- Last 100 trajectory for reference
- When you click the People or Vehicle button in the upper-right corner of the screen, the system displays the most recent 100 trajectories of people or vehicles. These trajectories help users better determine which areas to include or exclude when configuring detection zones.
