Question
How to export the VSS debug logs for troubleshooting?
Answer
The VAST Security Station (VSS) has a function that allows customers to gather all server logs for a specific period of time. This is useful for troubleshooting/debugging, as we need the logs from when the issue occurred (although customers can send all the logs, selecting a time range allows them to provide only the necessary logs for analysis).
To obtain the server report, please follow these steps:
Step 1.Open the VAST Security Station application, click on the gear button, and select "Settings".
Step 2. In the settings interface, navigate to System > Feedback and Bugs.
Step 3. Click on the "Send Feedback and Bugs" icon to open the report interface.
Step 4-1. In the "Send Feedback and Bugs" interface, if using 'Auto Submit', internet connection will be required. Please fulfill the required fields before sending out the log.
Your name and Email as contact information.
The problem details and reproduction steps.
Select the export log time interval during which the issue occurred (e.g., recording issues from 2023/12/15 to 2023/12/20).
After clicking the "Send" button, the software will automatically start creating the report and send it to VIVOTEK Support Center.
This process may take a few minutes, depending on the number of logs to be processed. Once the process is finished, you will see a confirmation icon.
Step 4-2. In the "Send Feedback and Bugs" interface, if using 'Manual Export', first please ensure that the time interval for exporting the logs includes the issue occur time, then click on the 'Export logs' button.
Choose the folder where you want to save the report and click "Select Folder".
The software will automatically start creating the report in the chosen folder.
This process may take a few minutes, depending on the number of logs to be processed. Once the process is finished, you will see a confirmation icon.
Access the previously selected folder to ensure that the report has been generated correctly.
Last, manually send the exported log file to the VIVOTEK Support Center.
Note:
If the VSS interface cannot be opened, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\VIVOTEK Inc\VAST\Client\VSS and run AnalyticsReport.exe to export the logs.
